Rutgers Students Pressure New Brunswick City Council & Successfully Pass Antiwar Resolution
Members of the New Brunswick City Council were visibly shocked when supporters of three Rutgers students charged for peacefully protesting the Iraq war packed the May 7th City Council meeting, demanding the Council pass a resolution opposing the US occupation of Iraq and supporting city residents working to end the war....

Many other issues were addressed in the public hearing. Community members voiced many concerns about the quality of life in the City of New Brunswick itself. Their concerns focused on the poor quality of New Brunswick's public schools, rampant corruption on the part of city officials and police and violations of tenants rights with the city. Many people there voiced support for reform through what is known as the the Ward Campaign for New Brunswick, led by a group calling themselves Empower Our Neighborhoods.
